Anderson Cooper is an American journalist, television personality, and author currently working as the primary anchor of the CNN news broadcast Anderson Cooper 360°. The show is usually broadcast live from a New York City studio. In addition to his duties on CNN, Cooper serves as CBS reporter for 60 Minutes.

He suffered a series of heart attacks on 5th January 1978 while undergoing a series of an open-heart surgery and passed on at the age of 50. He released his memoir Families: A Memoir and a celebration, in 1975 . Cooper said that he considered his father’s book to be “sort of a guide on…how he would have wanted me to live my life and the choices he would have wanted me to make. And so I feel very connected to him.”

His mother Gloria Vanderbilt was an American artist, author, actress, fashion designer, heiress, and socialite. She was the subject of a high-profile child custody trial in the 1930s in which her mother, Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt, and her paternal aunt, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, each sought custody of her and control over her trust fund.
