Sylvia Jeffreys Career
As a script assistant in the newsroom, Jeffreys started her media career in August 2005 at the Nine Network in Brisbane.
She started contributing lifestyle articles to Queensland’s Extra program in 2008, and in 2009, she went back to work in the newsroom.
In 2011, Nine News Queensland named Jeffreys as their weekend weather presenter. As a reporter and weather presenter for Nine News Queensland, Sylvia covered a wide range of news events, including the floods in Central Queensland, Brisbane, Ipswich, and Grantham. She went to Tully as well in order to report on the destruction caused by Cyclone Yasi.
Sylvia relocated to Sydney in January 2012 to work as a New South Wales reporter for Today. She worked as a reporter for the program until June 2013, when Natalia Cooper took her position. She later joined Nine News as a reporter and a stand-in presenter for Today, Weekend Today, Nine Morning News, and Nine Afternoon News.
Jeffreys returned to Today in June 2014, as a newscaster, taking Georgie Gardner’s place.
