Braver kicked off her broadcasting career at WWL TV , the CBS affiliate in New Orleans, where she worked as a “copy girl”. She joined CBS News as a news desk editor in 1972, and spent almost eleven years as a CBS News producer. She has also reported for the “48 Hours,” “CBS Evening News,” “Face The Nation,” “Street Stories,” “CBS News This Morning” and “Public Eye.”
From 1983 to 1993, she spent ten years as CBS News’ law correspondent covering Iran Contra case, including the drug trial of former Washington, D.C. Mayor Marion Barry and the trials of former National Security Council officials Oliver North. She broke the story of the Walker family spy ring as well and convicted spy Jonathan Pollard.
She worked as CBS News’ Chief White House Correspondent for four years, from year 1993 to 1997 covering a broad range of domestic and foreign issues.
