Teachman began her career in 1996 as an intern student at KSN-TV under the guidance of Mr. Dave Freeman. She later worked as a meteorologist and reporter for KMBC Channel 9 for over seven years. She also left KMBC to join the KCTV News Network.
Additionally, she left KSN-TV after nearly 20 years as a meteorologist and newscaster. Dave Freeman, his mentor, has been replaced by her. She was awarded the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval for her dedication and enthusiasm for meteorology.
Teachman has received the “Seal of Approval” from the American Meteorological Society. The Kansas Association of Broadcasters honored her in 2018 for having the greatest weathercast in Wichita. In 2011, she broadcast live from Joplin in the hours following the city’s devastating EF5 tornado. In 2012, she witnessed her first tornado in Moundridge, Kansas.
