He and Lew Uhler co-wrote Red State Uprising: How to Take Back America in 2010. Later that month, Erickson stated that as a child, his parents refused to serve “Asian food” on December 7, the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. To a journalist, Erickson’s mother appeared to deny the claim. Erickson slammed the report, citing his mother’s age as an example.

RedState was sold to Salem Media Group in 2014, and Erickson was replaced. Erickson left the site in December 2015 to concentrate on his radio show.
