He began weightlifting while he was a senior at Palo Alto High School, where he wrestled and played football. While working with PE teacher Jason Fung, he excelled in the weight room. Using Youtube fitness videos, he began constructing exercises for himself. He went to Claremont McKenna College after high school and played football, but he had no long-term intentions for what he wanted to do.
He continued to work out while in college, and during his junior year, he spent a semester studying abroad in Vienna, Austria, where he met Onome Egger, an up-and-coming Austrian bodybuilder.
He opted to start Egger’s professional career in the United States after college. While preparing for bodybuilding competitions, he would promote him on social media. They intended to relocate to New York City, but Egger’s application for a green card was denied.
He was hired as a trainer at Equinox Printing House shortly after. This, however, lacked the ambiance he desired, as bodybuilding gyms are buzzing with activity. They discovered Dogpound on the internet with the help of another Equinox Printing House trainer, Matt Tralli. They were given the opportunity to work as trainees. Anderson became one of the company’s first trainers when it expanded to Los Angeles.
He worked as a ghost engineer before becoming a trainer. Ghost Engine is an underground network of top-tier sales hackers that provides a service dubbed “the plug and play sales machine.” He also worked as an intern with UserTesting.
