Courtney lost her leg in a boating accident on September 15, 2017, and is now an amputee. She was on Christmas Lake with her husband, Ryan Vovaczyk, when he made a quick turn and threw her overboard. Her foot became entangled in the propeller of the boat. Her foot was severed by the propeller, and physicians had to amputate a portion of her lower leg.
Ryan was arrested after the crash on suspicion of criminal vehicular operation causing bodily harm, and officials conducted a toxicological test on him. He was arrested and held at the Hennepin County Jail before being released. Relatives of the couple released a statement saying that alcohol wasn’t a factor during the accident.
‘Courtney and Ryan are together, she’s recovering well, they appreciate the love and support, and they ask for privacy so they may focus on healing,’ they said.
