She never had an exhibition during her early career because she moved around a lot and sold her paintings on the fly to support her family.

In addition, while still a patient at Maudsley, a psychiatric institution in south London, she created 78 paintings and had a sold-out exhibition in 1974. Charlotte’s retrospective, which was coordinated by Nell Butler and held at the Mall Galleries in London in 2015, was a huge success. Her paintings have sold for anything between £1,000 and $5,000.
