MacKenzie’s career began with a Rogers TV show called Toronto Living. Later on, she moved to Sydney, Nova Scotia, where she worked as a reporter, camera operator, videographer, and editor for ATV/CTV News. She relocated to Barrie, Ontario, where she was employed at New VR as an anchor. Back in Toronto in 2005, MacKenzie joined Global Television Network after relocating there. She covered the accessibility of public transportation and the next year was recognized with an Edward R. Murrow Award for excellence in journalism.
