She actually began on this route because of her fear of tornadoes; she was raised in Illinois. Her family was directly impacted by a powerful F5 wedge tornado that tore through a Chicago suburb when she was just 5 years old. When she started taking studies in meteorology in college, that dread quickly evolved into a passion. Before you knew it, she was traveling the country with the College of DuPage to chase twisters and study tornadogenesis.
Brittney has lived in Duluth, Minnesota, also known as “Minne-SNOW-ta,” for the past five years. At KQDS FOX 21, where she first worked as a weekend meteorologist, she was soon elevated to morning meteorologist and co-anchor. When the pandemic struck, she momentarily moved back home to be with her family, but on weekends she came back to Duluth to work at WDIO ABC 10. She perfected the art of anticipating lake effects while living up north and is familiar with the frequently shifting weather we encounter here.
She was chosen as Duluth’s best TV personality for three consecutive years, and she enjoys going to neighborhood gatherings and meeting new people. She started her career at WIFR CBS 23 in Rockford, Illinois, before moving on to the Northland, and she also held the position of Chief Meteorologist at her college station in DeKalb, Illinois, where she won Best Weathercaster of the Year for three years and was nominated for an Emmy.
