Prior to joining CNN in Washington, Keilar held positions as a White House correspondent, senior political correspondent, congressional correspondent, and general assignment correspondent.

When CNN This Morning took over for New Day with John Berman on September 15, 2022, it was reported that Keilar will quit her position there. Until the new CNN morning show aired on November 1, she continued to co-anchor the program. In a new position as network anchor, she will be working alongside Jim Scuitto and Boris Sanchez on an untitled program. Later this spring, the program will start.
