Alvin is happily married to the love of his life and the award-winning gospel musician CeCe Winans since the 23rd of June in the year 1984. Despite the fact that they are 16 years apart in age, the pair has been married for more than 30 years. Love and Cece met through common friends when they were both 33 years old and 17 years old. While in South Carolina, Love spent a weekend with the Winans family, and the energy between them was apparent. The pair courted for less than a year before getting married.
During an interview with “Today’s Christian Women” in 2008, the pair revealed that it took them roughly ten years to realize the actual meaning of a strong marriage.
“I came to understand what it meant to love CeCe as Christ loved the church. No matter how stubborn or disobedient we have been, Jesus stands with us. Every year, we strive to attend that conference. I cried the second time they asked us to talk about our marriage. I reflected on God’s grace in my life, both where I’d come from and what he’d given me in CeCe.” It was said by love.
“Getting married taught me how selfish I was; it makes you accuse your partner of doing something: ‘You did it.’ ‘You did it.’ It isn’t Christian. Alvin and I, on the other hand, were listening to God’s Word at church and applying it to our lives. Even simple advice like, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” is sound marriage advice. It all comes down to whether you love God or yourself more.” Cece remarked.
