Alana Brophy is an American Emmy Award-Winning Chief Meteorologist who serves at ABC4 Utah. She joined the ABC4 Utah Pinpoint Weather team on December 7, 2014, as a reporter and weekend forecaster. She previously worked in Boise, Idaho as an anchor, reporter, and forecaster.

Alana Brophy Career
Brophy is a proud graduate of Judge Memorial High School. She had a passion for the four seasons and climate, which led her further to the Mississippi State University where she pursued meteorology.
In the course of her time there continuing her studies, she got an opportunity to report. Brophy covered the most important weather stories in Utah. The weather stories include Utah’s deadliest flooding disaster in Hildale, low water levels at Lake Powell and the Great Salt Lake, an abundance of winter storms, like snow in St. George, the Brianhead wildfire, as well as flash flooding at Zion National Park.
Brophy has traveled much through the state on-road tour series, covering her second favorite topic, Utah’s outdoors. Having experience from snowmobiling, hiking, to biking and skiing with the ABC4 Road Tour, allowed her to get an in-depth understanding of Utah’s geography. She as well acquired a unique understanding of how storms interact with various mountain ranges and valleys.
Prior to joining ABC4 Utah, Brophy spent time in Boise, Idaho reporting, forecasting, and anchoring there. She won the Regional Emmy Award for field anchoring a morning newscast after two years of time forecasting on the KBOI Weather Team.
Brophy started her on-air job in St. George, Utah. She has always pointed her personality and passion to weather. While there, she fell in love with the southern portion of the state. Forecasting among the red rocks was something she couldn’t just pass up after graduation from Gonzaga University.
She reported Washington County’s extreme heat while in the desert and headed up a crime series, “The Tri-State Crime Stoppers,” which assisted apprehend many fugitives within the community. She as well earned a Community Partnership Award from the Washington City Police.
When she is not busy forecasting the weather, she enjoys volunteering, swimming, fishing, as well as reading, and loving Utah. During their free time, Brophy and her husband love the outdoors either fly fishing or skiing. They also spend time with family, supporting the Special Olympics (Go Warriors!), cheering on Gonzaga basketball as well as Chicago Blackhawks hockey.
